Shopping in Abingdon

Town Centre

Abingdon’s town centre features a mix of independent and high street shops and cafes. Residents are amply catered for with a Co-operative in the Abbey Shopping Centre as well as a Waitrose within easy distance of the town centre.

A refurbishment in 2007 resulted in a reduction of traffic within the town centre and the market square being repaved.

The Abbey Shopping Centre in Abingdon is undertaking an extensive refurbishment, due to be completed by Autumn 2012. View the video below to see how the improvements will look.

Markets

The Market Square houses stalls every Tuesday and Friday. Every 3rd Friday of the month the Abingdon Farmers’ Market is held offering produce from local farmers, growers and producers. The list of produce on sale includes: baked goods, beef, beverages, crafts, dairy and eggs, fish, fruit, lamb, plants, pork, poultry, preserves and honey, speciality products, vegetables and venison.

Out of Town

For larger stores the Fairacres Retail Park is a short distance out of the main town, including Homebase, Argos, Subway, Dreams, HomeStore&More and Pets at Home, with Tesco Extra close by.
